Dizem que aos 30 deixamos de ter a cara com que nascemos e passamos a ter a cara que merecemos...
O que eu ansiei por essa cara!
Não era a cara de Garbo, que segundo Louise Brooks fora escolhida - em vésperas da introdução do código Hays em Hollywood - por ter um rosto que transmitia a ideia de sexo sem efectivamente mostrar qualquer tipo de sexo.
Era a cara que me iria redimir de uma infância que parecia nunca mais querer chegar ao fim. Era a cara de mulheres que, ao contrário do que se passara comigo, deviam ter vivido mal os primeiros anos de vida porque a cara com que nasceram ficara à espera que elas crescessem. 
E punha-me a pensar que se calhar existia uma forma transcendente de justiça que fazia com que aos 30 todos pudéssemos recuperar o que nunca nos pertencera: a infância perdida para uns, a maturidade ansiada para outros.

It wasn't Garbo's face that according to Louise Brooks had been chosen - right before the introduction of the Hays code in Hollywood - because her face conveyed the idea of sex without really showing it.
It was rather the face that would redeem me from a never ending childhood. It was the face of the women that quite unlike me seemed to have had a difficult begining in life because the face they had been born with had been waiting for them to grow.
And it got me thinking that maybe there was some kind of transcendent justice that at 30 would make it possible for all of us to get back what we had never had: lost childhood for some, longed maturity for others.
